Meet The Founder

From the Head of School

It has been a long-standing vision of mine to open a high-performance middle school for under-served students. When this vision was bestowed upon me over 15 years ago, I was unsure as to how events would unfold to make this vision a reality, because I was not an educator at the time. However, certain life events through divine providence altered the trajectory of my career, and now on my 10 year anniversary as an educator, I find myself planning for the grand opening of Harriet Tubman School of Excellence.

My life is a product of what a quality education can do for an individual. I was raised in a very modest household, and my parents emphasized the importance of obtaining an education to better one’s situation in life. Remarkably, the education I received positioned me to have such once-in-a-lifetime experiences as meeting the distinguished U.S. Senator Richard Lugar in the White House and speaking in front of an audience of over 10,000 people in the Georgia Dome.

As a firm believer in the value of education, I want to make sure that young people who are under-served have access to unique opportunities that can position them to maximize their potential and become contributors to the progress of our great nation.
